(CBS4) – A 55-year-old man from Estes Park spent the night in Rocky Mountain National Park after taking a 75-foot “tumbling fall” below the summit of McHenry Peak on Sunday. Estes Park man rescued by helicopter in Rocky Mountain National Park
Source: The Loveland Reporter-Herald Date: 7/13/20 An Estes Park man was flown to St. Anthony Hospital after falling 75 feet from below the summit of McHenry Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. Park rangers were notified Sunday night that a 55-year-old had fallen on the west face of McHenry at an elevation of 12,900 feet while traveling from the summit of the peak to Stone Man Pass, according to a news release from the national park. Source: The Mountain Ear Date: 6/21/20 Sgt. David Salaman, Boulder County. On May 28, 2020, a man from Boulder fell while climbing in the Animal World rock formation in Boulder Canyon. At approximately 4:15 p.m., Boulder County Communications Center received a call for a 34-year-old male that had fallen 25 – 30 feet while climbing in the 32000 Block of Boulder Canyon. Climber takes big fall from 'Animal World' formation in Colorado
Source: OutThere Colorado Date: 5/29/20 Following a 25 to 30 foot fall in Boulder County, a climber was transported to a Denver hospital with serious injuries. The 34-year-old male was rock climbing on the “Animal World” rock formation when the accident occurred. The male remained unconscious by the time the rescuers arrived at the scene at about 4:15 PM on Thursday. Source: Fox 31 Date: 2/9/2019 A woman was seriously injured after driving a rented snowmobile off a cliff near Grand Lake Saturday afternoon, according to Grand County Search and Rescue. The search and rescue team worked with firefighters and paramedics to get the woman up a 150-foot ridge. On Saturday, park rangers received notification of a man who died near the Harbison Picnic Area on the west side of the park. The man, whose identity has not been released, reportedly went into cardiac arrest. Hosted by the SRM Clinical Practice Council, the hospital tour has become a yearly event, designed to encourage students to think about careers in the medical care fields and to give them a better understanding of what goes on at hospitals, so they won't be afraid if they ever have to go there for care. The simulation was part of the "Every 15 Minutes" program that educates teens on the risks of intoxicated and distracted driving. On Sunday at 1:01 p.m., the Eldora Ski Patrol responded to a report of an injured man at the Sundance Terrain Park. Two ski patrollers arrived at the same time to find this person unconscious from a head injury. He was wearing a helmet at the time. Source: TheTribune Date: 2/14/2017 On the day George Marquez and Cameron Duran saved Kyrah Griffin’s life, they heard the call come in on the radio while on duty at North Colorado Medical Center. Griffin was in a serious car crash, and when the ambulance brought the LaSalle high school sophomore to the hospital, they realized she needed more advanced medical care. They took her in a helicopter, left from the roof of the hospital and headed for Children’s Hospital in Aurora. Traveling at 140 mph, they could make it to Denver in 25 minutes. Rolled over cement truck closes South St. Vrain Canyon
Source: 9 News Date: 11/25/2015 BOULDER COUNTY - A cement truck driver was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition after the vehicle rolled over in South St. Vrain Canyon Thursday afternoon. Since the death of his wife three years ago, Lawrence has lived alone in his two-story Brush home. Lawrence was 87, but he felt good that day: He had more energy than normal. Fatality Rollover in Canyon
Source: The Mountain-Ear Date: 08/05/2015 Barbara Lawlor, Boulder County. One person died and three people were injured in a rollover accident in Boulder Canyon on Tuesday afternoon. About 4:30 p.m. the report of a rollover accident at the 31 mile marker in the canyon sent Nederland Fire Protection District firefighters to the scene. They found a single car on its side pointed downhill, about 10 feet above Boulder Creek, the body of the car bent in the middle by the tree it landed on.A passenger was ejected from the vehicle and thrown into the creek. 2 girls injured in ATV wreck near Beaver Reservoir
Source: 9 News Date: 07/27/2015 BOULDER COUNTY - Two girls were thrown off of an ATV on Sunday near Beaver Reservoir. According to Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the teenage girls were riding their ATV near County Road 96J and Forest Service Road 507E at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. While riding the ATV, the girls veered off of Forest Service Road and hit a tree. Both girls flew off of the ATV and suffered non-life-threatening head, back and leg injuries. Women survives rattlesnake bite on Rabbit Mountain

Kim Rees was bit while biking in the Rabbit Mountain Open Space area, located north of Boulder and just east of Lyons. He is bleeding profusely, has multiple fractures and is unresponsive. The closest hospital is more than 50 miles away and there is not even a primary care physician nearby. Time is not on the rancher’s side. However, residents of rural areas of Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming have a potentially life-saving resource: North Colorado Med Evac (NCME). Although two medical helicopters already served the region, expansion has bettered the odds of survival for emergency patients in remote areas and rural locales without nearby critical care facilities. The injured rancher has a fighting chance, thanks to NCME air transport. |
Victims of deadly fracking rupture ID'd

It happened at a fracking site off Highway 66 and Weld County Road 9 1/2 at 9:33 a.m. When Mountain View Fire Rescue officials arrived on the scene, they found one person dead and two others injured. But whether this means there is more of a need for the speedier transportation is still unclear. On Feb. 1 AirLife Denver began operating out of its new base at the Fredrick-Firestone fire station No. 2, just off I-25. A month later, North Colorado Med Evac, formally AirLife of Greeley, opened shop at its new location at the Erie Municipal Airport. North Colorado Med Evac, has another helicopter stationed at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, which before February was the only helicopter ambulance in the region. Greeley West Teens Help Promote Driving Safety

Drive Smart Weld County held “Tailgate the Safety Way” in the Greeley West parking lot Saturday, Aug. 28. The theme for this year’s annual event was on traffic safety issues including texting while driving. Annie Halbert, a senior at Greeley West, was collecting signatures from people willing to pledge not to text while driving and to use a hands-free device while using a cell phone. Halbert said she got the idea when she saw the “No Phone Zone” program on the Oprah Winfrey show. EMCH staff gets air ambulance training
Source: Brush News-Tribune Date: 5/11/2010 An air ambulance from Greeley landed at East Morgan County Hospital last Wednesday morning, but it was evident that the helicopter came to Brush for a different type of assignment when the crew emerged with a box of doughnuts. Among those on board was North Colorado Med Evac Chief Flight Nurse Daniel Beckle, who came to train EMCH staff members to load and unload patients from the helicopter. Beckle worked with the EMCH plant operations personnel, nursing staff, respiratory therapy department and clinical informatics coordinator during the training session. Four people were on board the helicopter at the time: the pilot, a paramedic, a nurse and a neurology patient. |
Weld oil-well blast injures 2 workers
Source: The Denver Post Date: 01/14/2009 Emergency crews flew victims of an oil-well explosion to a Greeley hospital this morning after an explosion, authorities say. Officials didn't know the extent of the injuries to the two oil-well workers in the 7:30 a.m. blast west of Greeley, said Undersheriff Margie Martinez, of the Weld County Sheriff's Department. "There were some flames," Martinez said. Greeley firefighters extinguished the blaze by building a dirt mound around a rig and enveloping the fire with foam, she said. Air Life of Greeley: Saying goodbye to an old friend
Source: The Tribune Date: 1/31/2008 Like an old friend who had been with them for the hard times, through the happy and sad moments of their lives, it was difficult to say goodbye.They stood beside her, the nurses and paramedics, pilots and doctors, they drank a toast (non-alcoholic, of course) to her, and thanked her for more than a million safe miles. In this case, the crews were saying goodbye to the AirLife helicopter Thursday. It was the last day in Greeley for the chopper that carried her crews on more than 15,000 trips and transported thousands of patients to safety. Med-Trans Partners with Colorado Program Continuing a 25 Year Legacy
